Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the world’s most common infectious diseases. 1 out of three people worldwide can be infected with latent tuberculosis, while nearly 10 million become sick with the disease year after year. This illness remains to be the leading cause of death among people living with HIV (PLHIV) and is now alongside HIV/AIDS the leading cause of death from an infectious disease worldwide.
The CDC works closely with ministries of health to provide technical support and training aimed at improving TB control programs. It will also optimize implementation of existing tools and strategies, and build the evidence base for better approaches to TB control. These efforts focus on interventions within the three pillars for TB control: Find, Cure, Prevent. More about TB from the CDC website.
